Support in your Accommodation

Living in Student Accommodation is a unique experience that comes with highs and lows. Living away from home for the first time, navigating living with others, being more independent, whilst keeping on top of your studies can be overwhelming.

The Residence Life Welfare team is here to support you with all of this. Our staff come from a variety of different support backgrounds and work with the shared aim of supporting students in accommodation to have the best experience possible!

What can the team help with?

Whatever you might be going through, if you feel you need support, the Welfare Team want to hear from you.

  • Wellbeing and mental health support
  • Exam and academic pressure support
  • Flatmate conflict resolution and mediation
  • Welfare check-ins and follow-up support
  • Signposting to University and external support services
  • Referrals to Uni support teams
  • Guidance during personal challenges or difficult circumstances
  • Support with building resilience, confidence, and a sense of community

How to get in touch

We work Monday - Sunday between 3pm and 11pm. We are based in Murano Street Student Village in the Central Services building but are mobile and travel around all of our accommodations. So we can come to you!

You can also pop into our office during our working hours or come along to one of our welfare team drop-ins throughout the year which will be advertised on the UofG Living Events page.

Here are some common questions we get from students about our service

Yes. If you have a concern about the wellbeing of one of your flatmates then you can reach out to us to discuss your concerns and our team will be able to talk through some possible options with you. Our team will explain our confidentiality processes and ensure that both you and your flatmate get the right support.

Yes. We know it's sometimes easier to talk in-person. Our team can arrange a time to meet with you at your own accommodation.

If you're concerned, no matter if it feels like a small thing, you can still chat to our team. Sometimes all you need is someone to talk things through with for your concern to feel lighter or for you to come up with some solutions that will make you feel better.

Don't feel like you have to wait until your concern is "more important" for you to get support.

We want to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible. Therefore if you would prefer not to meet in your own accommodation you can come along to our office for a chat, or we can arrange to meet somewhere out with your flat.

We also know that student accommodation walls can be very thin! So if you're not able to talk to us over the phone, we can support you through email, or arrange a more appropriate time or place to chat.
