The people behind your plate

Our talented and wonderful staff members work hard everyday to serve delicious and nutritious food, all with a smile!

These are some of the faces you'll be seeing during your time at uni so it's time to get to know them a little bit better.

Meet Michael, Catering Supervisor at The Western Café

Fun fact about me: During my cheffing days, I once cooked and served food for Paolo Nutini in a small bar that I worked!

My favourite dish on campus: Chicken noodle soup - it reminds me of my mums recipe.

What I love about working here: Food (and coffee) makes people happy! I enjoy being involved in delivering this happiness to all the staff and students who come to enjoy the offerings at The Western.

Meet Barbora, Catering Assistant and Barista at The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club

Fun fact about me: It takes me until lunch time to wake up properly - I'm not a morning person at all!

My favourite dish on campus: The variety of syrups available for coffees, special drinks each season and delicious smoothies.

What I love about working here: My pleasant and funny colleagues that make my days better, meeting a variety of new people as customers.

Meet Abdulhadi, Catering Assistant at the JMS

Fun fact about me: I'm a big Bollywood movies fan and take dance classes to have fun.

My favourite dish on campus: Chicken Katsu Curry from the JMS Hub Kitchen and Tinderbox coffee.

What I love about working here: I just really like serving food and giving the best customer service possible.

Meet Euan, Chef at The Barn Café

Fun fact about me: I would say I'm a good host, or try to be. I like to talk a bit of nonsense and make people around me feel relaxed and entertained. When customer facing i try to have persona of "The Greatest Showman"!

My favourite dish on campus: Currently I like doing a decent Lasagne, a timeless classic that most people love, done well coming out of the oven bubbling. Lasagne is a dish any decent chef should be proud of. As for product I like Pipers crisps as it mentions about them being made by farmers. Stocking this in the barn cafe is a nod to respecting hard working British farmers.

What I love about working here: Giving the customers a food and retail offer that has identity and credibility and providing a range of choice that keeps customers from being bored or stuck for choice. To conclude, the people I serve in The Barn are wonderful to be around and a pleasure to cook for, truly.

Some lovely words shared by our incredible catering team, don't forget to say hello next time you're in our restaurants or cafés 👋
