A very warm welcome to Glasgow! With all the fun and excitement of arrivals period, Welcome Week and the start of teaching, September is undoubtedly one of the exhilarating months in whole the academic yearđ
Whilst we're sure that you'll not be short of things to do or get involved in, we've pulled together a few additional suggestions in our first What's On Guide of 2025/26. Remember that there's lots more going on than we could possibly list here so keep an eye on the My SRC App and sites like University of Glasgow Events, What's On Glasgow, Visit Glasgow and others for up to date news on the latest shows and events.
At the University
International Student Welcome Programme (10 to 26 September, Various Locations)
If you're joining us from overseas then you'll definitely want to check out the International Student Welcome Programme. Brought to you by University's amazing International Student Support Team, you'll be able to take Pool lessons, go on walking tours, learn about Glasgow and Scotland and experience a Ceilidh! If you've got any questions or need any advice, you'll also find the team at their Welcome Desk on Level 3 of the Fraser Building, Mondays to Fridays between 9.30am to 4.30pm.
UofG Welcome Week (15 to 19 September, Various Locations)
The University, the Studentsâ Representative Council (SRC), Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA), and the many societies and sports clubs have been working hard over the summer to make sure that Welcome Week 2025 is the best one yet! Take a tour around the campus, meet reps from the societies and clubs at the Welcome Fair, enjoy taster sessions, quizzes, food and drink, Ceilidhs and much more!
UofG ResLife Residence Welcome Talks (15 to 19 September, Various Locations)
If youâre moving in to one of the University of Glasgow residences, you should have received an invitation to come along to a special Welcome Talk for your hall. The talks will provide you with essential information about your site, your site teams and how theyâll support you during your stay and information about accommodation policies. The talks are also a brilliant way to meet some of your fellow residents and learn about the events and social opportunities for you to get involved with at your site. See you there!

FutureFest (24 September, Various Locations)
If you are interested in personal and professional development then the Uni's brilliant Careers team have got just the event for you! FutureFest is special one-day festival that features job fairs, skills and wellbeing-focused sessions and activities, one-on-one support, including CV reviews and personalised careers advice. There will also be lots of fun activities, prizes and freebies so not to be missed!
Comedy
Eric Idle (20 September, SEC)
Monty Python star and British comedy legend Eric Idle brings his new musical, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live! to Glasgow. Promising comedy, music, philosophy and 'one fart joke', there are sure to be plenty of laughs.
Culture
Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition (1 September to 26 October, SEC)
Take an incredible virtual journey back to ancient Egypt and find out more about the history, the artefacts, the heritage and Tutankhamun himself!
Glasgow's Music Mile Walking Tour (Saturday 13, 20 and 27, Royal Concert Hall)
Speaking of King Tut, did you know that the famous Pharaoh also has an iconic Glasgow music venue named after him? King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, famously the venue where a certain band called Oasis were first signed, is just one of the stops on this tour around Glasgow's finest musical establishments.
Glasgow Open Days Festival (18 to 21 September, Various)
Experience Glasgowâs rich cultural and civic history by touring some of cityâs most significant buildings and spaces. With more than 150 sites, including factories, museums and theatres, all opening their doors to the public, free of charge, youâll never get a better chance to explore your new hometown!

Looking for seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, quality meats and delicious home baking? Partick Farmers market is the place for you!
Glasgowâs West End Beer Festival (28 September, SWG3)
If youâre beer fan youâll not want to miss the West End Beer Festival. Taking place in SWG3, next door to Maclay Residences, the festival will feature eight of Scotlandâs best small independent breweries from across Scotland, DJs, food and much more!

Lewis Capaldi (13 and 14 September, SEC)
We've got three of Scotland biggest musical stars in town this month. The first is record-breaking singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi who'll be performing two nights at the SEC over arrivals weekend!
Oliver Anthony (15 September, O2 Academy)
The man behind the 2023 breakout single "Rich Men North of Richmondâ brings his unique brand of American country-folk to the O2.
OneRepublic (23 September, OVO Hydro)
Ryan Tedder and the boys are bringing their catchy brand of pop-rock to town on the 23rd with their âEscape to Europeâ 2025 Tour.
Edwyn Collins (27 September, Theatre Royal)
Our second Scottish music star of the month is none other than Edwyn Collins. The man behind 80's favourites Orange Juice and 'A girl like you', one of the biggest hits of the 1990s, brings his new album to town for one night only!
RSNO Plays Mozart (28 September, Royal Concert Hall)
Classical fans will be delighted to hear that the Royal Scottish National Orchestra will be taking on Overture to The Impresario K486 and Symphony No35 K385 by the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Even better, as a student, youâll also be eligible for a discount on your ticket!
Simply Red (28 September, SEC)
Celebrating 40 years in music, Simply Red will be rolling back the years as they perform the hits from their award winning oeuvre.
Darius Rucker (30 September, OVO Hydro)
Country music superstar and former Hootie & the Blowfish frontman, Darius Rucker visits the Hydro with support from Jake Owen & the Shires.
Lulu (30 September, Royal Concert Hall)
The final Scottish great playing this month is Glasgow's very own Lulu! In town to help launch her brand new autobiography, If Only You Knew, Lulu will be sharing memories from her six decades in the music industry and showbiz and performing some of her best loved hits.
Sport
Monster Jam: Ramped Up! (19 to 21 September, OVO Hydro)
Head over to the Hydro for some diesel fuelled fun as the legendary Grave Digger and Co jump, flip and freestyle their way around the arena. Pure mechanical mayhem!
Scotlandâs Strongest Man (27 September, SEC)
Did you know that Tom Stoltman, the World's Strongest Man in 2021, 2022 and 2024, hails from Scotland? Well, Tom and his brother Luke, a two time winner of Europe's Strongest Man, will be among the competitors in this year's event!
