October is here and it's going to be a terrific month for events in Glasgow! In our second What's On Guide for 2026/27 we've handpicked a few for your consideration.
Remember that there's lots more going on than we could possibly list here so keep an eye on the UofGLiving Events page for all the latest events going on in your residence and the My SRC App and University of Glasgow Events for events at the Uni.

At the University
Lunchtime Organ Recitals (University Memorial Chapel, 7, 14, 21 and 28 October)
Head along to the Uni's beautiful Memorial Chapel to hear the majestic Chapel organ brought to life by a series of esteemed organists that includes former Gardiner Chair of Music, John Butt, the University's retiring Organist Dr Kevin Bower and Calum Landon, an Organ Scholar at St Andrews University.
Choral Contemplations (University Memorial Chapel, 20 October)
If you’re looking for a bit of calm and reflection this month, head along to the University chapel and hear the outstanding Chapel Choir on the 20th for a special twilight concert.

AJ Bell Great Scottish Run (St Vincent Street, 4 October)
The Great Scottish Run is back for 2026! Join a 10k or Half-Marathon and take in some of Glasgow’s most iconic sights from St Vincent Street to Glasgow Green🏃
Culture
Time: International Photography Exhibition (Glasgow Gallery of Photography, 7 to 31 October)
Featuring the work of photographers from around the world, this special exhibition will explore the captivating and reflective theme of Time.
GlasGLOW (Botanic Gardens, 16 October - 1 November)
See the beautiful Botanic Gardens as you’ve never seen them before as GlasGLOW returns for the ninth year! This year’s theme will 'Zombie Zoo' so expect an illuminating sonic and visual experience with 'decontamination tunnels', 'labs' and 'dead-friendly zombies'!
The Creative Craft Show (SEC, 22 to 25 October)
If you're the creative type then you'll not want to miss the Creative Craft Show at the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC)! There's going to be workshops, stalls, exhibitions and much more, covering such varied crafts and hobbies as sewing, quilting, jewellery making and papercraft.
Koyo Con - Anime Con (SEC, 24 October)
If you're a fan of anime and manga then Koyo Con at the SEC is the place for you. There's going to be talks, screenings, discussion panels, Cosplay competitions, workshops and much more!
Play, Pie and a Pint (Òran Mór, Throughout October)
Fancy a bit of theatre with your lunch? Head to Òran Mór in Byres Road for their A Play, A Pie and A Pint series.

Partick Farmers Market (Mansfield Park, 10 and 24 October)

Crash Test Dummies (Saint Lukes and the Winged Ox, 2 October)
The band behind ‘Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm’, one of the biggest hits of the 90’s, will be bringing their unique brand of alternative rock to Saint Lukes.
The Lemonheads (SWG3, 6 October)
American alt-rockers, The Lemonheads, have got a new album, Love Chant, and they'll be performing it in full in SWG3 on the 6th!
David Duchovny (The Art School, 7 October)
What would Scully make of this? X-Files legend and now musician David Duchovny (aka Fox Mulder) kicks off his European tour at The Art School on the 7th!
The Pussycat Dolls (OVO Hydro, 7 October)
Join Nicola Scherzinger and co as they bring their PCD Forever tour, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their award-winning PCD album, to Glasgow.
Transvision Vamp (O2 Academy, 7 October)
Having recently reformed, this will be first opportunity to see Wendy James and Transvision Vamp in action since 1991!
The Wonder Stuff & Inspiral Carpets (Barrowland Ballroom, 14 October)
It's two for the price of one at the Barrowlands on the 14th as Indie icons, the Wonder Stuff and Inspiral Carpets team up for a very special joint tour!
Duran Duran (OVO Hydro, 15 October)
New Wave superstars and icons of the 1980s, Duran Duran have seen and done it all in music and today, after almost half a century in the charts, they're back with a new single Free to Love and an arena tour!
Huey Morgan (Saint Lukes and the Winged Ox, 15 October)
After an acrimonious split with the rest of the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, former frontman Huey will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's iconic Come Find Yourself album at Saint Lukes.
Death In Vegas (Queen Margaret Union [QMU], 16 October)
The sometime collaborators of Iggy Pop, Liam Gallagher and Oasis will be rocking the QMU with their eclectic brand of electronic music on the 16th.
The Bluetones (Queen Margaret Union, 17 October)
Britpop survivors, the Bluetones, will be back at the QMU to play songs from their most recent album alongside some of their best known hits.
Alice Cooper: Devil On My Shoulder Book Tour (Pavilion Theatre, 19 October)
We're not worthy! Bone fide legend of rock, Alice Cooper will be stopping by the Pavilion Theatre to discuss his new autobiography Devil on my Shoulder and share tales from over six decades at the top of the music industry.
Melanie C (SWG3, 20 October)
Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, has recently released her ninth album, Sweat, and she'll be bringing it to SWG3 on the 20th.
Soul II Soul (O2 Academy, 22 October)
Approaching 40 years since Keep on Movin' and Back to Life first stormed the charts, British R&B legends Soul II Soul are still going strong and you can catch them at the O2 on the 22nd.
Toploader (King Tut's Way Way Hut, 22 October)
They'll be dancing in the moonlight as Toploader celebrate 25 years of their breakout album, Onka's Big Moka!
Brandon Flowers (O2 Academy, 23 October)
Killer's frontman, Brandon Flowers, returns to the city as a solo artist, this time to perform tracks from his brand new album, Thrasher. There may even be a few Killers classics played on the night as well!
Manic Street Preachers & Suede (OVO Hydro, 28 October)
We've got another joint tour this month and they don't come much bigger than the Manic Street Preachers and Suede!
Jack Savoretti (SEC Armadillo, 31 October)
Closing out the month at the SEC Armadillo is the soulful, singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti with songs from his latest album, We Will Always Be the Way We Were.
