If you're struggling with your mental health, don't feel overwhelmed or suffer alone! The National Health Service (NHS) has lots of resources and services out there to help and support you through any difficult times.
Here are a few of them to keep in mind.
111
For urgent mental support you can contact The Mental Health Hub at NHS 24, day or night, by giving them a call on 111.
The Mental Health Hub has specially trained advisors and mental health nurses on hand to support you. They can signpost you to additional resources, provide self-help advice or refer you to additional services.
Breathing Space
If you'd like to chat to someone, the Breathing Space helpline is available to you on 0800 83 85 87 or, if you'd prefer to webchat, at breathingspace.scot.
Breathing Space is a free and confidential listening service for people struggling with anxiety, depression or experiencing low mood. The service is staffed between 6pm and 2am on weekdays and 24 hours a day at the weekend.
Mind-toMind
On the NHS Inform website you'll find the Mind-to-Mind project that features a range of excellent resources about mental wellbeing including video stories, guides and articles.
Living Life
Living life is a telephone-based service from NHS 24 that offers you support through Cognitive Behavioural therapy and other forms of talking therapy.
The programme consists of 6 sessions with a psychological practitioner but you’ll need to take part in assessment before this commences.
If you’re interested, you can call the team between 9am and 9pm, Mondays to Fridays on 0800 328 9655.
At the University
Don't forget that, in addition to the NHS, the University also has many excellent Mental Health resources available to you as a student so don't hesitate to access them should you need that little bit extra support.
