The Student Apartments Office will be closed from 14.30pm on Tuesday 23 December and will re-open at 08.00am on Monday 5 January 2026.

It is helpful for us to know who is staying in the accommodation over the winter break. If possible please let us know your plans - the dates of any days you will be away from your residence or dates/days you are staying. You can email this information to us at Student Apartments, Lister House or Dumfries.

Additional Office Hours 

The Student Apartments Office at 89 Gibson Street will be staffed as follows during the winter break. Lister House and Dumfries residents should also contact the team here by phone or email.

Residents needing assistance outside office hours can contact University Security who will be available 24 hours a day at the Gatehouse, just inside the University's Main Gate on University Avenue. They can be reached by phone on 0141 330 4282 or through the SafeZone app.

Dumfries (Brooke House, Dumfries Hall and Laurieknowe Hall)

Lister House

Lister House office will reopen on Tuesday 06 January 2026 (normal opening hours) and thereafter will open Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Student Apartments

For residents staying in Southpark Terrace or family flats within Student Apartments with heating or hot water problems over the break you can contact City Technical directly on 08445796493. Other urgent repairs- e.g. loss of power, major leaks, no heating and no hot water - should be reported to security staff as per the above details. If you have any questions please contact us during office hours.

Staying in halls over the hols? There's always someone to help! 

If you are going to be staying with us over the festive period remember that there is lots of assistance available at the residences 24/7 and from University Security! 

24/7 Student Support Line

Throughout the winter break you will also have access to our 24/7 Student support line. You can call them free of charge on 0800 028 3766 or you can download the app by going to your App Store and searching for Wisdom. Through the app you'll find a wealth of support resources and can connect directly with a counsellor.

Estranged and Care Experienced Student Society

If you are care-experienced, estranged or both, the Estranged and Care Experienced Student Society will help you find other people with similar backgrounds and histories and create a non-judgmental, welcoming space that is open to all. What's On?

There's going to be loads going on in Glasgow over the festive period so, if you're going to be in the city, make sure you get out and experience it!  

Our friends in International Student Support have pulled together this handy guide for things to do over the Winter break and it features lots of fun activities and events to get involved with. We've also got some festive activities in out UofGLiving What's On in December. 

The Uni is also running a special Winter hosting scheme where you can be matched with a University of Glasgow staff member and enjoy a festive activity with them!
