Get ready for UofG with our handy checklist!
With all the excitement and energy of the arrivals period, staying on top of all the things that need to be done can be quite tricky! Here's our checklist to help you work through all of the essentials!
Before you arrive at your residence...
- Complete the e-induction on your accommodation portal.
- Check the key collection details for your residence and save the address details in your phone.
- Download and read your accommodation contract.
- Review the Accommodation Policies and Procedures that will be in effect during your stay.
- Review the University's New Students pages. You should register and enrol online as early as possible and before your programme start date.
- Check your email regularly for updates from the University.
- Plan your banking arrangements. You may not be able to set up an account before you arrive in Glasgow but do some research on the best student accounts available so you are ready to go when you arrive.
On Arrival Day...
- Complete your Online Room Inventory.
- Familiarise yourself with the fire exit from your room and flat and the fire procedures.
- Get connected to the internet.
- We recommend you download the Safezone app.
- Get to know your new flatmates!
During your first week...
- Complete your room inventory and report any issues to the site team.
- Register on the Howden for Students app and check your insurance cover.
- Register with a doctor/medical practice.
- Explore the campus so you know where you are going when teaching starts.
- Attend the mandatory residence welcome talk/safety briefing.
- Set up your accommodation payment plan (your fees will be in your MyCampus account after the contract start date).
- Ask for help. We know it's a big step coming to University so reach out and ask for help. Your residence teams, ResLife, Welfare and Student Support Services on campus are all here to get you through it.
- Find your laundry and get to know how to work the machines!
- Get your food shopping sorted in one of the many local supermarkets.
- Check out our Travel and Transport page for more info on getting around Glasgow and the West End.
